back then, it was cruel.

Theorizing about blood magic is to treat blood magic as a natural phenomenon that should be investigated like any other. Theories peak curiosity, and curiosity leads to a need for discovery. A need for discovery has led to awful tragedies with blood experiments which, ultimately, has gotten humanity nowhere and benefitted no one. During King Carson’s reign, this behavior was put on display when the royal house and the House of Brilliance were hellbent on defining the ins-and-outs of blood magic, no matter the cost.

Much of what was studied back then has been lost, forcibly buried by those in power today, and tucked away with the hope of never being revealed to the public again. Despite this, some theories and information about old experiments still exist today. One of these is the Color Theory.

It’s theorized that a person’s magic heavily correlates with a person’s soul. Their emotions, their very being, and who they are destined to become shapes that person’s magic. As undefinable as they are, souls very much exist in some capacity but thus far are too complex to properly be explained through science.

If this speculation is true, scientists wondered if it was possible to completely dispel someone of their magic by making them a hollow shell of who they once were. Getting rid of their memories, personality, and psyche should theoretically erase their magic, right? If yes, then that made the idea of creating artificial magic viable; scientists could create whatever blood color they wanted! Essentially, they’d be forcing an odd kind of selective breeding but for magic. In the long run, being capable of creating artificial magic could save humanity from living like caged birds should they do it right.

With approval from Carson, a small group of scientists began their work. They observed, then took an entire family with colored blood, then attempted to psychologically torture them however they could. The experiment ended with someone being transformed from a blue blood into a black blood.

This is known as “Color Theory.

These experiments are one of the reasons why the Concept of Humanity exists. If blood magic and a person’s psyche are linked, then blood experiments are essentially human experimentation, which is quite inhumane, even when consented to. Everyone’s life is valuable; everyone has a right to live. So, experimenting with blood is extremely illegal.

Tampering with blood without some kind of license or permission from the Favurhearts is illegal. Asking too many questions about blood without a proper reason could make you seem suspicious. Magic is meant to be celebrated and used for good. That’s it.

The Concept of Humanity is the currently active law that forbids tampering, experimenting, and over-examining blood magic. Using magic to commit crimes makes your sentence thrice as bad. Of course, the Royal Guard can’t always tell when magic is used in a homicide or theft. If you get caught, there’s a huge chance you could immediately spend some time at the Bastille.

Using “Nadia’s gift,” to do the unholy is considered the greatest sin. Blood magic is meant to be a symbol of fortune, self-discipline, and progression. Weaponizing it is just… Wrong.

concept of humanity

Blood. One of the most important things to us. It keeps us alive and warm. Keeps us fresh and heals us. It closes wounds and fights foreign bacteria, viruses and disease. However, it also determines our affinity. The kinds of things we can do in life. But this has remained a mystery for quite some time. Today though, I hope to offer an

explanation with the evidence and facts I've gathered over a number of years…

Some say that the blood color of an individual can often tell you about the personality of said individual. However, I hypothesize that the opposite is true. I think that the personality of an individual decides their blood color. In most cases, powers awaken in one when they are in their preteen (10-12) years or their early teen (13-16) years. Now why is this? Could it be maturity? Some hormone reaction brought on by puberty?

I theorize that it is caused by the cementing of one's personality. That when someone fully comes into who they are and a personality becomes cemented into their being, their blood color reflects this. Blood is the lifeblood of not just humans, but all natural creatures. It is the essence of us. Because of this, I believe it is connected to our soul. This is why we all start out with dull gray blood. Our personalities aren't flush. We are a blank slate of a soul. Our soul, I think, doesn't come into being complete. Just as we don't leave the womb complete. As we mature and find ourselves, so does our soul. Once our personality comes out we find who we are, in that sense, I believe that is the point at which our soul matures. Only once our soul is fully fledged, I believe a change happens within our soul and by proxy, our blood.

We are no longer a dull gray soul. The soul takes on a color based around our personality. Contrary to popular belief, I believe our soul serves much more a purpose than a vague spiritual one. It is connected to the blood that flows through our very veins. And we have limits to protect our soul and the essence that keeps us, us. That is why there are drawbacks and limits to the ability of everyone. To keep us from harming or even damaging our soul. This would explain why there is seemingly no rhyme or reason to the color one gains, and the inconsistencies regarding age at which powers manifest. It would also explain what happens when people consume or get transferred blood from another. The blood becomes disconnected from the soul once it leaves the body, hence losing its innate magical properties. The nausea (from consuming or getting a blood transfer) is caused from the leftover inactive properties and your body and soul being confused as you're essentially introducing someone else into your bloodstream.

However I believe this is not the case for all people, as with pink bloods, they can shape and use their blood even outside their body. Though most other colors who use blood outside their body revolve around it producing a gas or creating a mist, among other things. That could easily be explained as a reaction primed into the blood to happen after it leaves the body, and not control over it. More testing is required for a specific answer on this subject.

This would also help explain the stereotypes between blood types. Because their personalities are all in a certain spectrum. Similar to how the environment one grows up in can help determine what kind of person they will be. I can look at someone's environment they grow up in, and the kinds of people around them, then come to a conclusion on the blood type they will gain with a 75% accuracy. Far more than any other way out there. I acknowledge it could simply be a coincidence, but it could also be quite the opposite.

In short, I believe our soul comes into being as we do. Incomplete. However, it matures much faster than we do, based on our personality. When that happens, we gain a blood type depending on our personalities, attitude, and other similar factors. Granted, there are outliers, like twins or those who act the exact same but have different blood colors. Gray bloods, green bloods and other inconsistencies. However, those will be explained in a future paper. I hope this hypothesis of mine gives some insight to those interested.
